Make healthy habits a priority
Dear Editor,
It’s better to eat properly and be healthy than to spend a vast amount of money to restore wellness. We have but a short stint on the planet, but with good consistent check-ups one can live happy and fulfilled lives. But certain fundamental attitudes have to be adhered to. It does take a little sacrifice to achieve your ultimate dream of optimum health. Nothing beats a trial but failure. However, if you haven’t tried, there is absolutely no guarantee what you could achieve.
First you have to love yourself. You must try your best to withdraw from negative behaviours. I would encourage most people to lower their consumption of meat products and eat more vegetables.
Avoid food products which induce the body to produce cholesterol.
Make a concerted effort to get adequate sleep, no matter how hectic your schedule is. Since we live in the tropics we need to rehydrate our system with adequate water to ensure proper metabolic functioning. Get some time to exercise and manage stress, which is an important part of everybody’s life in the modern-day world.
Don’t get into any altercation with other people unnecessarily. Try and create an atmosphere where peace reigns supreme. Never compromise your treasured high standards and keep within the law.
It costs nothing to say “Good Morning”, “Good Evening”, “Good Afternoon” or “Good Night”. Neither is it a weakness to say “I am sorry”, “Forgive me” or “Thank you”. Giving an old lady or a pregnant woman a seat in the bus is not affecting your macho image or your “womanliness”. If you have nothing good to say about someone, don’t say anything. All this could create the way for a much gentler and friendlier society.
