Norwood Strikers cop semis berth after win
ALBION, St James — Norwood Strikers secured their place in the semi-finals of the St James FA Claro Division One semi-finals after scoring a 5-1 win over Abes Academy at Albion on Tuesday.
Led by a hat-trick from Teron Campbell and a double srike from Roshane Reid, Norwood improved to 47 points, 10 more than second-placed Rosemount, to ensure a top-four berth.
Norwood led 4-0 at half-time, with goals from Campbell in the third and 26th minutes, while Reid added to the tally in the 28th and 35th.
Campbell completed his treble in the 68th, while Abes got a consolation goal in the 88th when Jermaine Anglin converted a penalty.
Westgreen moved up one place to third on 32 points, one more than Kempshot, with a 3-1 win over Copperwood at the UDC field.
Kenyatta Thompson in the 34th and Floyd Collins in the 40th gave Westgreen a 2-0 lead at half-time, while Oraine Oliphante made it 3-0 in the 78th before Henrico Campbell pulled one back for Copperwood in the 89th.
Juniors scored a well-needed win, beating Mt Salem 4-0 to ease away from the relegation zone, moving into sixth place on 21 points.
Craig Pearson scored a brace for Juniors, in the 12th and 18th, while Gregory Gordon made it 3-0 in the 25th as Aldin Reid scored in the 55th.
