Granville FC seek crucial win in Trelawny Major League
KINLOSS, Trelawny – Granville FC could return to the top of the standings in the Trelawny Football Association’s National Rums of Jamaica Major League this afternoon, when they travel to play Kinloss at the Kinloss Playfield, starting at 3:00pm.
Granville along with Holland, who are at home to Exidos So Fresh, are tied on 15 points, one less than leaders Duanvale who will not be in action until Saturday, when they play away to Flames.
Anything but a loss for Granville who has a healthy goal difference of 12, would see them take over the lead from Duanvale, but Holland could also go tops with a win.
Kinloss are on 11 points and in fourth place.
They are unbeaten in their last five games and could prove to be a handful for Granville who are coming off a 1-0 win, after losing to Clarks Town in the previous round.
Holland will hope to have an easier time against Exidos So Fresh who are three places below them, on nine points from just two wins.
On Tuesday Flames came from behind to beat Clarks Town 3-1 to move two places up to seventh place on seven points.
Dhane Johsnon had given Clarks Town the lead after 26 minutes, but Shannon Telphia equalised in the 32nd minute, as the teams went to the half time break tied at 1-1.
Gornika Treasure handed Flames the lead after 68 minutes, while Desron Whyte sealed the win in the 88th minute.
Three games will be played on Saturday. Duanvale will be away to Flames at Sea-Road field, Friendship will host Jackson Town, while Spicy Hill and Prospect Links will meet at the Georgia field.
