Musical Delight — a lion-hearted effort
ON February 5, the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel will play host to an evening of music courtesy of the Lions Club of Kingston.
Speaking at the launch, head of the Bare Essentials band and member of The Lions Club of Kingston, Errol Lee noted that the concert will feature a mixture of classical jazz, reggae and soul music. The event, dubbed Musical Delight IV will see performances from Lovindeer, George Nooks, Ebony, Everton Pessoa, Harold Davis and Friends, Keisha Patterson, Velia Espeut, among others.
Lee also raised a major concern facing the club, saying that the sponshorship for the concert has been their weakest link to date and urged corporate Jamaica to contribute to the cause.
Proceeds from this year’s staging will go towards the operation of the Lions Club of Kingston Sight Clinic on Beechwood Avenue in Kingston. The clinic provides sight screening and ophthalmic examinations at minimal cost to the public. It also provides free glasses to the indigent and the very young.
The Lions Club of Kingston is the first Lions Club in Jamaica and has been in existence since 1965. Since its inception, the club has centred its operations mainly on educational and social and public services, health services including the Heart Foundation and sight conservation and working with the visually impaired.
