PNP already celebrating
People’s National Party (PNP) officials are already declaring an unofficial victory in today’s Local Government Elections.
Although all the results are not yet in, deputy general secretary of the governing party, Julian Robinson, said the PNP has taken the majority of the parish councils, having captured many of the key divisions held previously by the Jamaica Labour Party.
“I can’t believe this… this is an even bigger landslide than the general elections,” said Robinson.
Although it is raining, party supporters have been pouring into the PNP’s Old Hope Road headquarters to celebrate their second victory in three months.
The party leader is expected to take to the large stage shortly after the Electoral Office of Jamaica officially declares the elections later tonight.
