Temporary disruption at Calabar, Trelawny
Voting was temporarily disrupted at the Calabar Basic School in North Trelawny where Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters called for the closing down of the polling station after a misunderstanding.
The JLP supporters became suspicious after one of their supporters was given a ballot which had a watermark which was wrongly interpreted as an X beside the head, the PNP symbol.
The issue was resolved and normalcy restored after a representative from the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) explained that the mark which appeared to be an X was a security feature.
Calabar is situated in the Duncans division which is being contested by Donovan White, representing the JLP, and Derrick Gallimore of the People’s National Party (PNP).
A strong contingency of police converged on the scene where the JLP supporters gathered before the situation was resolved.
