MONTEGO BAY, St James — Granville Jaguars became the first team to score 100 points in a game in the Flow National Basketball League-West this season when they beat winless Lucea Flames by 35 points (107-72) in their first-round game played at the Montego Bay Cricket Club on Saturday.

Despite resting most of their starters for most of the second half, Granville Jaguars were easy winners with five players scoring in double digits as they raced to their fourth straight win to lead the points tables with eight, same as Hoopers who have played five games.

In the second game of the double-header, defending champions Catherine Hall All-Stars made it three wins in a row beating Railway Lane Tigers, 72-55, to be level with Sav Hawks on seven points.

Flames, who were promoted to the NBL-West this season along with Sav Hawks, were off to a good start trailing Jaguars by just a point (23-22) but managed just 50 more points over the next three quarters, including 31 in the final when Jaguars had eased off the intensity.

Leroy Lawrence, who rested almost all of the fourth quarter, led the scoring with 21 points and 10 rebounds, Dave Black Jnr scored 20 points, Andrew Whilby scored 12 points and had seven rebounds, while substitutes Greg Bernard scored 12 points and Douglas Powell had 10 points.

Damion Haughton scored 20 points and 11 rebounds for Lucea, Julian Walker had 14 points and four assists, while Oshando Greenfield and Cecil Cole both had 11 points.

After losing their opening game to Granville, Catherine Hall have not looked back and were able to dominate Tigers who have won just once so far.

Led by Kurt Dorman who scoffed 18 points and Goyan Malcolm’s 17 points, Catherine Hall had two big runs — 13-2 to start the game and then 10-0 at the start of the third quarter.

They led by 10 points at the end of the first and second quarters (20-10) and (35-25) then saw it decreased to nine at the end of the third quarter 49-40.

Jermaine Rerrie scored 16 points and had 18 rebounds for Catherine Hall, while Vaughn Corke scored 11 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals before he fouled out.

Dwayne Hamilton who was starting for the first time this season, led Railway Tigers with 13 points, Omar Biggs came off the bench to score 11 points while Detroy Jewery had nine points.
