DJ Constantine makes new dancehall riddim

DJ Constantine, Toronto’s Z103.5 FM disc jock, has the distinction of having one of the most popular live club radio broadcasts in North America.

“Over three million clubbers have heard me spin live and millions more on the radio,” he said.

Playing live mix shows since the mid-90s, DJ Constantine has now begun his foray into dancehall music as a producer. His project, the French Kiss Riddim on his own Constantine Music label, has been generating positive feedback in Jamaica and North America. Songs from the riddim includes Beenie Man’s Touch the Street, Jah Vinci’s Jah Is My Life and, Blak Ryno’s Nah Fraida People.

“This may be my first dancehall production but a lot of effort went into it, every track has its own flavour,” he said.

“Music is universal. Whether I’m playing, producing dance or dancehall, I strive for excellence. The French Kiss Riddim was a pleasure to build and produce. The artistes did an excellent job and I hope everyone enjoys our body of work.”

Sony Music Entertainment has just licensed Beenie Man’s Touch the Street for an upcoming compilation.

“The Beenie Man track will appear on the Sony compilation that is coming out on June 14 and they may want other tracks as well,” DJ Constantine said.

The riddim also features some up-and-coming artistes including Bencil, Reack, Kantana, and Dudsymil.
