Cavalier exhale with 4-1 win over Savannah
FROME, Westmoreland — KSAFA Super League champions Cavalier continued their run through the Jamaica Football Federation’s Red Stripe Premier League qualifiers by scoring a come-from-behind 4-1 win over fellow qualifiers Savannah FC in the returnround game at Frome on Wednesday.
Cavalier scored all four goals in a 23-minute blitz in the second half after trailing 1-0 at half-time, for their fifth straight win, while beating the Westmoreland team for the second time in the series.
Meanwhile, the other two teams, Volvo FC and New Green, played out a 2-2 draw at Brook’s Park in Mandeville.
At Frome, Jessie Maylor gave the home team the lead after just eight minutes, but Jamar Dawkins and Dennis McKinley both scored twice in the second half, 10 minutes apart, to preserve their team’s perfect record.
Dawkins equalised in the 54th minute before McKinley gave Cavalier the lead three minutes later.
Dawkins made it 3-1 in the 74th, while McKinley added his second in the 77th.
The series ends on Sunday with Savannah travelling to New Green and Cavalier playing away to Volvo.
