There’s no denying the excitement, the adrenalin, and yes, the pay cheque that is associated with most athletic competitions. A win is a win – end of story. Really? So what about records? What is it that matters in sprint competition: speed or number of wins?

I think the number of wins speaks to direct pay cheques from each competition; nothing of endorsements (which really depend on personality and crowd appeal). But when the smoke evaporates and the dust settles, the question that is left to be answered is: who is the fastest? That question is answered, not by the number of wins, but by who holds the world record. End of story.

The only question then that I’m interested in having answered regarding the Bolt and the Beast is, can the Beast break the Bolt’s records? If he cannot, then London is all about his pay cheque, and I don’t work with a certain “F” magazine, so I’m not interested in the Beast’s earnings.

But for the records, if I were a betting man, my money would still be on the Bolt, because over the weekend I’ve seen the Beast at his best, but not the Bolt who everyone knows can do better. But will he do better? I think way better!!
