BARRETT TOWN, St James — More than 130 students from the Barrett Town community in St James recently participated in the 4th annual staging of the Help To Impact Lives (HTIL) summer football camp held on the grounds of the John Rollins Success Primary School.

During the five- day camp, the students aged between six and fifteen, received all- purpose shoes and soccer gear as well as lessons in basic football skills.

According Robert Hemmings, the president of HTIL, a non-profit organisation based in North Carolina, the turnout for the camp this year was the largest since the inception of the programme.

Hemmings, a native of Barrett Town, is a former Cornwall College daCosta Cup football player who is now a computer software programmer residing in North Carolina.

He noted that the success of the camp was made possible by several dedicated volunteers, and expressed gratitude to the board of the Rose Hall Success Primary for the use of the facility.

Several of the students in attendance received prizes based on their performance during the camp.

Among they was Damion Smith who won the Most Outstanding Football Scholar Trophy for the third consecutive year.

Meanwhile, the Rose Hall Basic School was presented with a cheque for $102,000 at the end of the camp. The funds represented the proceeds for a raffle organised by HTIL in collaboration with Robert Hayles of Bottom Road Truck Inc.
