Marathon Insurance Brokers backs Jamaica’s historic Commonwealth CAC Games campaign

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Marathon Insurance Brokers (MIB) says it has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of Jamaican sport as one of the major sponsors supporting the country’s largest-ever contingent to the Commonwealth Games and the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games.

Representatives of MIB joined officials from the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA), athletes and other stakeholders at Thursday’s official launch of Jamaica’s campaign for the two multi-sport events, which will run from late July into early August.

The games will see Jamaica competing in 27 sporting disciplines, including eSports, in what has been described as a historic first.

Speaking with reporters following the launch, Business Development, Marketing and Public Relations Manager at Marathon Insurance Brokers, Joseth Brown, said the company was proud to be part of a significant chapter in Jamaica’s sporting history.

“We are happy to be a part of this history in the making. So, we’re happy that we’re on board for this epic event. Twenty-seven disciplines that we’re participating in, and it’s the first in Jamaica. We’re very happy about it,” Brown said.

She said Marathon Insurance Brokers has consistently invested in initiatives that contribute to national development, with sport remaining a key pillar of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.

“We continue to support Jamaica and we continue to support athletics in Jamaica. It’s our heart,” said Brown.

She said the company’s philosophy is centred on creating opportunities and investing in future generations through sport.

“We have a foundation of investing in the future and so sports is one of those disciplines that allows you to invest in the future,” Brown argued.

She added that the values which have guided Marathon Insurance Brokers since its founding align closely with the qualities displayed by Jamaica’s athletes on the international stage.

“Marathon is built on support, it’s built on resilience, it’s built on love. It’s the magnanimous heart of Marathon Insurance Brokers and our founder, Richard Burgher, who continues to propel us to participate in these ventures,” she argued.

Brown also offered words of encouragement to Team Jamaica as athletes prepare to compete on two international stages.

“Go with heart,” she stressed.

Jamaica is expected to field its largest delegation ever for the two championships, with athletes competing across dozens disciplines.

The inclusion of eSports reflects the continued expansion of the country’s sporting programme as Jamaica embraces emerging events alongside its traditional strengths.
