THE popular show Pree Dis aired its 100th episode last Saturday, two years after it first aired.

This marks another major milestone for the show and the producer, Kevin Jackson, who worked hard to make the show the success it is today.

TEENage contacted Kevin Jackson to get a little insight on the show and its producer.

“It was a rough start for the show and many popular local stations rejected his idea,” Jackson said, who has worked in print, radio and televison in Jamaica.

When all hope seemed to be lost, it was Flow TV (Channel 100) that gave him a chance. Along with Flow TV, the show is also on Tempo, a station which airs in 30 countries across the Caribbean.

Jackson keeps the show trendy in entertainment fashion and lifestyle. He incorporates entertainment and news from all over the Caribbean as well as health and sports features. He also mentioned that Pree Dis promotes young, up and coming DJ’s through their feature ‘Pree Di Mix’.

“Pree Dis actually goes into communities to find the talents, not just dancers and singers, but artistes as well. It is a motivating factor,” Jackson said.

He tells TEENage that the show has brought many new talents to the fore, including dancehall artiste Chan Dizzy, who was the first new artiste interviewed on the show.

Through the show he feels that he is playing his role in contributing to Jamaican culture.

“We plan to bring more of the world to Jamaica and more of Jamaica to the world,” Jackson also told TEENage that he plans to expand the show into the Caribbean and possibly Europe.

Jackson gave us these motivating words for those interested in media “If you have an idea, if you have a dream, follow it”.

He then went on to say that if you let others discourage you from following your dreams you will regret it.

“I am one person who tries to encourage people,” he continued, acknowledging that he knows what it’s like to constantly hear discouraging words from those around him.
