Top schools extend winning streak in daCosta Cup
DENBIGH, Clarendon — Six schools led by former champions Glenmuir High, Garvey Maceo and St Elizabeth Technical scored their third straight win yesterday in the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup football competition.
Xhane Reid scored four times for Glenmuir High as they romped to a 5-1 thrashing of Denbigh High to improve to nine points at the top of Zone M.
Garvey Maceo kept pace with a 2-0 win over winless Fogo Road, but trail Glenmuir on
goal difference.
Dinthill Technical and Bog Walk remained locked on points at the top of Zone K after both had big wins yesterday.
Romar Giddersingh scored a hat-trick for Dinthill Technical to take his tally for the season to four in their 6-0 win over Tacky, as Bog Walk were 5-0 winners over Charlemont.
Spalding High also won their third straight, 3-1 over DeCarteret College to increase their lead in Zone G, as the Holmwood Technical vs Christiana High game was blown off in the second half due to lack of crowd control.
Meanwhile, Muschett High’s quest for a third straight win in Zone C went up in smoke as they crashed 0-3 at home to a slick-looking Spot Valley, who were led by a double from Tyshan Hill with Roshoye Bull getting the other.
Spot Valley took the lead in the zone on goal difference as Hugh George Watson scored a hat-trick to lead William Knibb Memorial to their first win, 3-0, over Hopewell.
Amin Miller and Levar Dunchie both scored doubles for Munro College, who bounced back from the loss to Black River last week to beat Lacovia High 4-0 in Zone E, while Maggotty surprised Black River 2-0.
Bellefield High moved past Manchester High into the lead in Zone F after beating Cross Keys 2-0. St Mary Technical moved to the top of Zone J after snapping Iona High’s two-game win streak, outscoring them 3-2,
while Oracabessa snapped their two-game losing skid to beat Islington 3-0.
