Slim and trim: Supligen’s new look
SUPLIGEN maker Nestlé Jamaica has unveiled the drink product in a new package, a sleek slender 290 ml can.
It is a different look from the 367ml can that Jamaicans have grown accustomed to over decades.
James Rawle, Country manager for Nestlé Jamaica, said the company has invested some US$7.6 million in a new production line for the liquid meal supplement. He explained that the new line responds to consumers’ demand for a more modern, appealing and convenient product.
“The new Supligen, packaged in a slim aluminum can has a cleaner, more refreshing taste. The logo has also been updated to reflect a more modern image and the sustained energy benefit,” Rawle said at the launch held at the Mona Visitor’s Lodge, UWI on Thursday.
Rawle reiterated the company’s commitment to providing Jamaica and the world with nutritious products and gave the assurance that Supligen will continue to fuel Jamaica as the drink of choice for long-lasting energy that is also nutritious and fulfilling.
Rawle said Nestlé Jamaica is proud to have been a part of the history and development of the nation for the past 50 years, having come to the market in 1976.
“This new technology will enable further innovation for Jamaica and the Caribbean region,” he said. “With almost 75 years of presence in Jamaica, through this investment, Nestlé reaffirms its long-term commitment and confidence in the dairy industry’s growth and development, devoted to Jamaica’s economic recovery.”
He explained that Nestlé Jamaica is the sole regional producer of Supligen, exporting to existing markets in the Caribbean and the United States, with plans for growth into new territories.
The new Supligen vanilla flavour is presently available islandwide in its new form with the other regular flavours, malt and peanut, to make their transition within the coming weeks.
Nestlé Jamaica is owned by Nestlé International.
