Dear Sir,

Can anyone explain how the NWC can afford to spend millions of dollars trucking water up, down and around the entire countryside but cannot seem to have the money or foresight to stock the spare parts to keep NWC’s essential pumps operating on a steady basis?

How many times over the past 30 years or so have rural residents heard the excuse that pumps are “out of service” and parts to fix them are “in Kingston or abroad” but never “at hand”?

Meanwhile, the NSWMA seems to be equally addicted to maintaining multiple expensive trucking contracts simply to move trash from place to place and then complain they are not able to find the money to set up a system of properly separated waste materials that could turn, at least, some trash

into cash.

The fiscal oil drain

from these two government entities must translate into billions of dollars in foreign exchange. Could it be

just another case of “Nero fiddling while Rome burns”?
