TITLE contenders Wolmer’s Boys continued their goal scoring spree whipping Jose Marti 5-0 in their ISSA/Digicel/Gatorade Manning Cup Group F match yesterday and maintained the perfect start to the season.

Kamario Osbourne netted three times, scoring in the fifth, 40th and 54th minutes for his fifth goal of the campaign, while National Under-17 player Jaheel Hyde got the other in the 23rd minute for his third of the season.

National senior player Jorginho James, who scored against Cuba in February and who made the switch from Kingston College (KC) to Wolmer’s, added his name to the scoresheet, heading home in the 68th minute for his fourth goal of the season.

Former national Under-17 striker Jason Wright, who was suspended for this game, remains Wolmer’s top scorer for the season with eight goals.

The maroon and gold-clad marauders from Heroes Circle, have now rattled in a Manning Cup-leading 33 goals from five games, while conceding only two.

The Ludlow Bernard-coached aggregation are runaway leaders of the group with 15 points, second-placed Jose Marti are on seven points from four games, with Donald Quarrie are third on six points from three games ahead of Kingston Technical on five, Oberlin High on one and St Andrew College pointless.

Having now finished their first round set of games while brushing aside their opponents with consummate ease, Bernard was more than satisfied.

“It is satisfactory that we could have 15 points, scoring as many as 33 goals and conceding two. Last year this time we conceded approximately 11 goals and we were in really bad shape,” said Bernard, also a youth coach at Harbour View FC.

Wolmer’s are the top scoring team in the Corporate Area with a massive 15-0 thrashing of St Andrew College on their way to averaging over six goals per match.

Their 33-goal tally is four more than Charlie Smith’s 29 and Hydel High way back with 19 goals as the third highest scoring school.

“What’s critical from here is how we manage our injuries and try to keep the players in peak physical condition so they don’t get burnt out,” noted Bernard.

“I think we have been doing well so far and the subs that we have asked to replace some of the players have duly obliged. We really want to continue that for the rest of the five games in the round. We want to continue rotating the squad,” he added.

Meanwhile, Charlie Smith moved three points clear of KC in Group G following their 2-1 win over St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

Charlie Smith, last season’s beaten finalist, moved to maximum 15 points from five games ahead of KC on 12 with both STATHS, Pembroke Hall and Ardenne further back on five points each, and the pointless Meadowbrook High bring up the rear.
