Woman among three fatally shot by police in Mandeville shootout
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Police have confirmed that a woman is among three people who were fatally shot during an alleged shootout on Caledonia Road in Mandeville Saturday afternoon.
Preliminary reports are that about 4:00 pm, police were alerted to a robbery spree and subsequently intercepted a getaway vehicle near Horseshoe Curve.
A highly placed police source said the occupants of the intercepted vehicle opened fire on the cops who then returned fire. A shootout ensued resulting in a prolonged standoff and running gun battle.
Police said a woman and two men were taken from the intercepted vehicle and taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident happened in the vicinity of last Saturday’s double murder where nursing student Deenekia Pounall and Sadefa Henry were gunned down in a taxi by a gunman who posed as a passenger.
