Quiet debut for Tomahawk Technique
SEAN Paul’s album, Tomahawk Technique, has debuted at number two on the Billboard Reggae Album chart.
Interestingly, Tomahawk Technique has not entered any of the major Billboard charts. However, it was a different scenario in Europe where it was released early this year.
The album reached number seven in Austria, number five in France, number three in Switzerland, and number 34 in the United Kingdom.
Sean Paul’s previous three albums (Dutty Rock, The Trinity and Imperial Blaze) fared considerably better in their opening week on various Billboard charts.
Bugle completes video
Dancehall artiste Bugle has been doing well with his latest single, Don’t Give Up, which was produced by Tru Ambassador Music.
In a recent interview, Bugle gave the story behind the song.
“Don’t Give Up is one of those positive songs telling people that no matter what the problems in your life, just stay positive, have faith and you can overcome it. Failure is just a state of mind,” he said.
Bugle was recently in the United States where he shot the video for Don’t Give Up. It was directed by Jerome Hyde of Unplugged Multimedia.
“I wanted to have some different locations, different people and just make the video different, just like the song,” he explained.
The artiste says he is finalising plans for shows in the UK, Israel and Africa. The trek is scheduled to start in November and wrap in December.
Bugle’s Psalms mix tape was recently released and features 42 tracks, including Don’t Give Up.
Lady Lex sizzles
British reggae artiste Lady Lex sings about a couple trying to maintain a long-distance relationship on her latest single Just to Be With You. It is on the Amore rhythm from Donsome Records.
“The song describes how the woman desperately wants to be with her man, even if it’s only for a couple of seconds,” Lady Lex told this column.
She said the song is based on a relative’s experience.
“One of my family members fell in love with a man overseas and she actually said to me that she felt like she wanted to swim to him, fly to him, and climb a mountain to be with him. I could feel the love from her and that inspired me,” she said.
According to Lady Lex, responses to the song have been encouraging.

Earlier this year Hefla Nyah topped the Jamaica Music Countdown Reggae chart for three weeks with the patriotic single Take You There (Jamaica).
He followed-up with several tracks including Lose Control featuring Natural Black, Ethiopian Child with French band Ondubground and Facebook Girls.
