The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting that a number of its 460 water supply systems that were out of service earlier today are now up and restored to partial and full service.

[naviga:li]Extremely high turbidity levels (muddy flows) especially at some river and spring sources[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Blocked and damaged intake structures[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Power supply problems ranging from no power supply to low voltage, single phase or intermittent power supply[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Flooding at some facilities[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Land slippages [/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Broken mains [/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Electrical and/or mechanical damage on the system[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]Blocked or flooded roads or access ways[/naviga:li]

The disruptions affecting some systems in every parish are due mainly to one of or a combination of some of the following issues:

Over in the Corporate Area, the Constant Spring and Hope Water Treatment Plants are now operating at about 50 per cent and 30 per cent respectively. Full restoration of service is expected at the the Mona Water Treatment Plant later this evening.

The NWC says it is continuing its assessment of the full impact on its systems.

The company continues to remind its customers that restoration of normal service to each customer is dependent on the nature and cause of the damage suffered on the particular system that serves them, their location on the system and the prevailing weather conditions.
