MACAU Gaming Lounge has rolled out 34 more slot machines at its casino, to cater to Kingston’s gamblers.

The lounge, which opened last November with 12 machines, is on the property of Falken Motors and feautures the Macau Bar.

Both businesses are owned by the Chinn family, but that wasn’t the only reason the lounge was set up at the property off Dunrobin Avenue, Kingston, said Matthew Chinn, Macau’s managing director.

The location is also near to the Marketplace, which has the Usain Bolt Tracks & Records, the Fiction Lounge and Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Middle-Eastern restaurants on Constant Spring Road.

His own bar also brings in many customers and complements the casino.

“Both businesses feed off each other,” Chinn said.

Chinn said he loves gaming so he gambled on a casino, investing over US$1 million ($89 million).

Though Chinn has considered expanding to other locations, he said the focus is to improve the customer service of the lounge.

Despite being in business for 11 months, the official opening was delayed until Monday due to the need to become efficient.

Gross turnover in the gaming lounge sector totalled $25.1 billion in the fiscal year ending March 2011, according to Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission figures.

Kingston Live Entertainment, operators of Fiction and Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records, is also building a high-end, 125-seat, gaming lounge in Kingston, directly between Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records and Fiction Lounge in the Marketplace on Constant Spring Road to be called “The Secret Room”. It is a collaboration between KLE and Supreme Ventures subsidiary Prime Sports.

Other players include the Treasure Hunt and Caribbean Treasure brands.

Sizzling Slots, which has locations in downtown Kingston and Half-Way-Tree square in St Andrew, and Old Harbour, St Catherine, is to open another lounge at the Wyndham Kingston hotel.

Betting lounges are licensed to operate a maximum of 19 gaming machines, while a gaming lounge can have between 20 and 150 machines.
