Irwin High, Holland to make debut in ISSA/KFC basketball
THE weather permitting, Irwin High and Holland High will make their debut in the 2012-2013 ISSA/KFC Western Conference Boys’ high school basketball competition tomorrow.
Irwin High, who are returning after a two-year absence, had a game against William Knibb rained out last Thursday, and are scheduled to meet Muschett High in an Under-19 game today.
Holland High are scheduled to play two games against Green Pond High, who lost a double header to Cornwall College at the Montego Bay Cricket Club on Monday.
Games that were down to be played yesterday — Rhodes Hall against Spot Valley and St James against William Knibb Memorial — were rescheduled after schools were closed due to the impending arrival of Tropical Storm Sandy.
Meanwhile, Cornwall College and Herbert Morrison Technical scored double wins on Monday, beating Green Pond and Spot Valley High respectively.
Cornwall first had a close 29-23 win in the Under-16 game before chalking up their second win in the Under-19 section, beating Green Pond by 21 points 58-37.
Herbert Morrison, who are the defending champions in the Under-16, beat Spot Valley 36-28 in the junior game then doubled them up 41-20 in the senior game.
