KC looks for big break
NEVILLE Lee, Jamaica-born music producer, has been searching a decade for a Caribbean artiste who can break into the Canadian pop charts.
The Canada-based Lee thinks the answer is Guyana-born dancehall deejay KC (Kerwin Clarke). Both are in Jamaica promoting Big Time Enemy, on Lee’s B-Crissas label.
“It has good potential and we have a lot of confidence that it will break into the local charts and eventually into the Canadian charts, with the right promotion,” said Lee.
B-Crissas has already released KC’s two other songs Baby Girl and Good in a Jeans. All songs were recorded at Paul ‘Computer Paul’ Henton’s studio in Harbour View.
KC says he has been visiting Jamaica since 2010.
“I’ve always been a big dancehall fan. I grew up listening to the music, deejays like Super Cat, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Mavado, and Kartel and my inspiration came from them,” he said.
An album is expected in the new year.
“Once we get his music moving in Jamaica, we plan to break him into the Canadian charts. It all starts rights here in Jamaica but, right now, he is hot in the dancehalls in Toronto,” said Lee.
