Fraser 2nd on El Salvador’s goalscoring chart
SEAN Fraser of Alianza FC notched his eighth goal in 13 matches Monday night to remain the second leading scorer of the Apertura in El Salvador’s Primera Division.
Fraser, who played for Portmore United and Harbour View, scored in the 86th minute for Alianza to slam Firpo, 2-0, at the Estadio Sergio Torres Rivera in Usulután.
Rodolfo Zelaya opened the scoring in the 50th for Alianza, who are in third place with 23 points, trailing leaders Isidro Metapán, 27, and CD Águila, 24.
Fraser, who has also played for clubs in Trinidad & Tobago, Puerto Rico, United States, and Brazil, is averaging a goal every 137 minutes in El Salvador. Panamanian Nicolás Muñoz of Isidro Metapán is the league’s top-scorer with 11 goals.
Starting in all 13 matches and twice scoring a double, Fraser has been taken off four times so far this season. He has made Alianza, however, the second most attacking team in the league with 53.85 per cent of their goals coming after 65 minutes.
Alianza will host cellar-team Once Municipal on Sunday, November 4.
Fraser scored eight goals for Alianza in the 2011-12 season when he played 16 matches after transferring from Once Municipal, the same year he scored 15 goals from 20 matches.
He has nine caps for the senior Reggae Boyz after showing his class as a junior when he appeared for Jamaica at the 1999 FIFA Under-17 World Championship in New Zealand and the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship in Argentina.
