JPS President and CEO Kelly Tomblin (centre) is flanked by Governor General of Jamaica Sir Patrick Allen (left), and Guardsman Executive Chairman Kenny Benjamin. Benjamin described JPS’s response to Hurricane Sandy as “prompt and efficient”. He believes that there has been a marked difference in the ‘feel’ of the JPS since Tomblin took over the reins in May. “Having electricity for many persons is their one and only security measure and being in darkness took that away from them,” he said. Tomblin said that “it was not easy for many of our staff, who live in inner-city areas, to leave their own families in darkness to ensure others regained power, but I am proud of their dedication and your comments will certainly help to continue to motivate them”.
