SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — Former champions St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS), Cedric Titus and Port Antonio scored wins to maintain their perfect records in the Inter-zone of the daCosta Cup yesterday.

STETHS, who are into the Ben Francis KO final, turned back Lennon, 2-0; Cedric Titus scored a similar margin of victory over Happy Grove, while Port Antonio smashed York Castle, 7-1.

Yesterday’s winners joined Spot Valley, who beat Grange Hill on Friday for their second win to move to within touching distance of a place in the quarter-finals with a game to go on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, defending champions Rusea’s breathed life into their campaign by beating William Knibb, 2-1, at Jarrett Park.

Demar Dohman in the 22nd and Anthony Walker in the 80th scored for Rusea’s, who were beaten, 3-0, by Mannings last week.

With Zone leaders Cornwall and Mannings drawing 0-0 at Jarrett Park, one point separates the three schools in the hunt for a single berth in the next round.

In rainy and muddy underfoot conditions in Santa Cruz, late substitute Donjay Smith scored twice in the last five minutes to give STETHS a hard-fought win.

Smith came on in the 73rd and scored the first goal directly from a corner in the 85th, then added a second two minutes later from a free kick.

Devroy Campbell converted a penalty and Shaquille Jones scored for Cedric Titus in their win to go top of Zone Five.

Rushane Taylor scored twice for Port Antonio as they surged atop Zone Six after Bog Walk’s game against St Mary Technical was rained out and will be replayed tomorrow.

Tacius Golding scored their first Inter-zone round win, edging Paul Bogle, 1-0, with Rojoy Gordon getting the winner, while Tevin Williams scored both goals for Frome in their 2-1 win over St James at Frome.

In another game, Spalding rebounded from their opening loss to STETHS, to hammer Bellefield, 5-0.
