DARYLL Oliver of UTech and Tanice Barnett of MVP Track Club topped the National Bakery Hugo Chambers 5K on Sunday.

Twenty-three-old Oliver clocked 16 minutes 32 seconds, just ahead of Horace Burey of Island Smiles, who ran 16:35, and Rayon Lawrence of MVP Track Club, 16:42, in the race that started and ended at Jamaica College, Old Hope Road.

Barnett, who placed 24th overall, took the women’s title in 19:02, beating 13-year-old Monifa Green of Hydel High, who ran 19:40 (33rd overall), and Arieta Martin (unattached), who logged 20:33.

Some 126 runners finished the 5K.

Twelve-year-old Navasky Anderson of St Jago High captured the one mile event in 4:43, outrunning teammate Keyshan Davis (4:57) and Kingston College’s Vaughn Taylor, who clocked the same time.

For the girls, 12-year-old Kris-Ann Lewis of St Jago logged 5:07 to take the one mile, with Tameika Lions of Hydel second in 5:15, and Abigail Brooks, also of Hydel, third in 5:26.

In the two mile race, 19-year-old Ravon Black of Excelsior High clinched the title in 11:23, edging schoolmate Shervon Baxter (11:24) and 14-year-old Teahmar Burke of St Mary (11:26).

Papine High’s 15-year-old Ikeda Stewart won the girls’ equivalent in 13:37, getting the better of Excelsior’s 18-year-old Candice Higgins (13:52) and Papine High’s starlet Tiffany James (13:58).

James, 15, is the National Under-17 champion and Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Under-18 winner in the 400 metres.

There were category awards for those aged 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-69.
