OCHO RIOS, St Ann — A JDF soldier charged for bigamy had his bail extended when he appeared in court Monday, December 10.

Twenty-seven-year-old private, Romain Henry, of Walkerswood, St Ann will reappear before the St Ann’s Bay Resident’s Magistrate court on February 5, 2013.

The matter is set for mention in February as the court is awaiting the certificate for Henry’s second marriage, believed to have taken place overseas.

Henry came under investigation following the shooting death of his wife, 26-year-old Shamoya Henry of Faith Pen, St Ann, while she was working at a bar in Golden Grove, also in the parish.

Shamoya Henry and a patron, Joshman Douglas, 31, from Macnee in Clarendon were killed on Saturday, June 24, 2012.

Henry had a single bullet to the forehead and Douglas shot, and his throat slashed.

Bank notes were also reportedly stuffed in his mouth.

Hours after the killings the police accosted Henry, his father and brother.

It was then that the police reportedly gained information about the soldier’s relationships. His father and brother were released without charge.

The information alleges that Henry, who was married to the woman killed in Golden Grove, was also married to a woman in the United States.

The JDF soldier was taken to court on Thursday, June 28, 2012 and was offered bail in the sum of $500,000 on the charge of bigamy.

The union of Henry and his wife in Jamaica produced two children; a boy and a girl. The couple was reportedly living apart for over four years before she was murdered.

Henry has not been charged in relation to the murder.
