Philadelphia-based reggae singer Elliven is so caught up in the festive season, he recorded the song Christmas Time, featuring deejay Hot Fyah.

The track was produced by Elliven’s NAP Musiq label.

“The idea for the song came about early one day while moving about and I couldn’t help but notice that people were in the Christmas vibe. The Christmas lights around the malls, and the houses adorned with Christmas decorations. It was then that it really hit me, that Christmas is also my favourite time of the year,” said Elliven.

He said the bouncy Christmas Time is a sign of things to come in 2013.

“Right now we have numerous projects in the pipeline so just stay tuned.”

Elliven, whose real name is Neville Palmer, scored as a producer with singer Daville’s remake of Bryan Adams’ 1980s hit We’re in Heaven. Other projects from NAP Musiq include the Passion, Wash Pan and Spot Check rhythms.

Originally from Bull Bay in St Andrew, Elliven migrated to the United States eleven years ago.

Mikeylous stays busy

Following the moderate success of his song Hype and Bruck, veteran deejay Mikeylous is preparing for the Yuletide season.

He is looking forward to capping the year with performances on two of the major shows for the Christmas period — GT Taylor’s Christmas Extravaganza at Independence Park, Black River on Christmas Day, and Galiday Bounce at the Ewarton Sports Complex five days later.

The St Ann artiste is known for songs including Hot Girls Only, Jah Never Fails and Macarena Dance which he recorded as Nigger Mikey.

Mikeylous is currently promoting the singles Do and New Man featuring Mr Lee.

Strictly the Best debuts on Billboard

VP Records’ double disc Strictly the Best compilations debuted simultaneously on this week’s Billboard Reggae Album chart. Volume 46 came in at number four. It contains songs from Busy Signal, Tarrus Riley, Gyptian, Romain Virgo, Chino, Jah Cure and Morgan Heritage.

Disc two comprises old school hits by Mr Vegas, George Nooks, VC, Jah Mason, Junior Kelly, Bascom X, among others.

Volume 47 debuted at number eight. Disc one has recent hits from Konshens, Popcaan, I Octane, Sean Paul (featuring Kelly Rowland), Tommy Lee Sparta, Aidonia and Bounty Killer.
