Young choreographers’ showcase
AS the finale of the celebration of its 50th Anniversary of the National Dance Theatre Company (NDTC), will mount its Young Choreographers’ Showcase this Sunday
The performance begins at 6:30 pm, at The NDTC Studios, The Little Theatre Complex in St Andrew.
NDTC Artistic Director Barry Moncrieffe says this “intimate performance” at the home of the NDTC will include a range of creative works by NDTC dancers and alumni as well as several guest artistes.
Leading the group of young chorerographers, NDTC ballet mistress Kerry-Ann Henry will perform an excerpt of her own solo work, Out of the Shadows; and, dance captain Marlon Simms along with guest performer Neisha-yen Jones, will team up for a duet, entitled Ode to the Lost.
NDTC alumni Natalie Chung will present, Hear Me Speak, performed by Tamara Noel, while Abeldo Gonzalez has choreographed Gallo Fino, to be danced by Kevin Moore. Moore will also mount a duet, to be danced by Terri-Ann Dennison and Mark Phinn, while Keita-Marie Chamberlain and former NDTC dancer Yendi Phillips will also present works.
Stefanie Thomas has created Unmasked; and, a dancehall movement called Fresh by Chelcia Creary and Sophia McKain completes the presentation of new works.
In addition, the full Company will perform an Excerpt of Cave’s End, by NDTC’s late artistic director, Professor Rex Nettleford.
