ANGARA Sinclair and Sidrell Williams gave fair warning to rivals ahead of the new year when they racked up the most points at last weekend’s Christmas Open at the National Stadium Pool.

Sinclair topped the Girls division with 93 points and Williams ruled the Boys with 90 points, but the Y Speedos Swim Club duo was not enough to stop Tornadoes Swim Club from winning the three-day competition with 794.50 points.

Y Speedos finished second with 593.50 points, eclipsing Marlins Swim Club (442), Stingray Swim Club (310), Swimaz Aquatic, (246), Blue Seal (173), Blue Marlins (six) and Flying Fish Ambassadors (four).

Twelve-year-old Sinclair broke five individual meet records and along with Leanne McMaster, Jada Newell and Cheser Adams, erased the old mark in the 200m freestyle relay.

Sinclair demolished the records in the Girls 10-12 200m individual medley, 200m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke with times of 2:43.34, 2:46.58, 31.62, 39.31, and 32.51 seconds, respectively.

In the relay, the Y Speedos quartet clocked 2:00.50, bettering the old record of 2:00.91.

Fifteen-year-old Williams, meanwhile, shattered the records in the Boys 200m individual medley, 100m freestyle, and 50m freestyle with clockings of 2:20.34, 54.45, and 24.11, respectively.

In all, 17 meet records were broken, 12 of them in individual events.

Other individual record breakers at the meet were Stingray’s Samantha Bailey and Alex McCallum, and Tornadoes’ Christian Alberga, while Marlins and Tornadoes accounted for relay records in the Girls 400 medley and 200m freestyle, and the Boys 200m freestyle.
