AFTER working as a producer/songwriter in the early stages of his career, Hodari branched out as a singer two years ago with the song Get Outa Control.

That single was “a tribute to all the hot, independent women”. His latest recording, Inna Di Pool, is not far from that theme.

“It’s a party song, I want people to party when they hear it, and the song has been getting favourable responses,” says Hodari.

Inna Di Pool was done on producer Colin Forte’s Poolside beat which has produced hit songs for Tifa (Handle the Ride) and Voicemail (Clap It).

It is Hodari’s third song, following Get Outa Control and Aim 4 The Sky, which were done for his FuGen label.

Hodari Brown (his real name) says he first took a liking to dancehall in 1993 when he heard Buju Banton’s Browning at a fete staged by his school, Wolmer’s High.

He spent the next five years studio hopping and learning the ropes from producers like Jeremy Harding, who was then manager of rising deejay Sean Paul.

Among the songs he has co-written or produced are Wish You Were Here by Voicemail; Come Home Soon by Mr Easy and Harry Toddler’s Memories.
