FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Resurgent Wadadah FC will take on Zone One leaders Village United at the Elliston Wakeland Centre in the feature game of today’s start of the return-round of matches in the Captain’s Bakery and Grill Western Confederation Super League, set to start at 3:00 pm.

Wadadah, the former champions and two-time National Premier League winners, beat Village in the first round and have signalled their intent to make a run for the Premier League, signing almost a full starting team in the January transfer window.

The signings are experienced players, including former national player Keniel Moodie, as well as Loxley Thomas, Olivier Trail and Mario Swaby, who all have Premier League experience, and Rusea’s High schoolboy Demar Dohman, who played for Savannah SC in the Premier League this season.

The Daniel Ricketts-coached team is coming off a confidence-boosting performance against Premier League contenders Montego Bay United in the St James FA Knock-out on Wednesday, after beating Petersfield FC in the Super League last Sunday.

They are in third place in the zone on eight points, three behind Village United, who have won three and drawn once in their last four games since losing to Wadadah in the opening game.

It is a different Village United that will face Wadadah today, however, outscoring their opposition 7-4 over their last four games and have shot to the top of the points table.

In Zone Two, Tomorrow’s People could retake the lead ahead of the idle Reno United when they take on Bamboo FC at Jarrett Park.

Despite losing to Catherine Hall in the St James FA KO, Tomorrow’s People’s form in the Super League is impressive, after they spanked Norwood Strikers 5-0 on Sunday, to snap a two-game winless run.

The Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis-coached Tomorrow’s People are on 10 points from five games, two behind Reno’s 12, while Bamboo have worked their way up to third place on seven points after losing to Reno last week.

Catherine Hall has been one of the more consistent teams in the league this season and after drawing with Village last week, will hope to get back to winning ways when they travel to Bounty Hall to face Harmony, who have lost their last three after a decent start.

Catherine Hall’s André Barrett is tied for the goal-scoring lead with three strikes so far and will hope to add to his tally today.

Logwood and Petersfield, who have struggled, will meet at Green Island High, while Norwood Strikers, who are coming off a big loss to Tomorrow’s People, and then lost in the St James FA KO to a Senior League team, will seek to get back on track and find the form that saw them surprise Reno two weeks ago.

All games will start at 3:00 pm.
