Cop freed in ‘Ching Sing’ murder trial
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Detective Sergeant Lloyd Kelly was freed today in the Home Circuit Court trial for the murder of Ian ‘Ching Sing’ Lloyd in Buckfield, St Ann.
Lloyd’s shooting was recorded on cell phone by an onlooker and carried on national television in July 2010.
The cop was freed this morning after the trial judge, upheld a no case submission from defence lawyers.
According to reports Kelly, along with other police officers, had gone on the scene to arrest Lloyd after receiving reports that he had just killed an elderly woman known in Buckfield as Miss Cherry.
During the trial three witnesses testified that Kelly acted in self-defense as he was under attack when he shot Lloyd.
