Seven selected for Miss Trelawny Festival Queen
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — THE seven contestants participating in the 2013 Miss Trelawny Festival Queen contest were sashed during an entertaining evening ceremony held in front of the historic Falmouth Courthouse building.
The winner will be chosen from the seven belles, whose ages range from 18-years-old to 22-years-old, during the crowning to be staged at Club Vibes Restaurant and Grill — formerly Club Cali — in Cooper’s Pen in the parish, on Mother’s Day, May 12.
The contestants sashed were: 18-year-old Westwood High School student, Dyamond Gordon; 22-year-old Northern Caribbean University student, Sanasha Pearson; 22-year-old Northern Caribbean University student, Renee McKessey; Annmarie Brown, a 19-year-old student of Holland High; Shanae Pink, an 18-year-old student at William Knibb High; Monique Ellis, 21, student at Excelsior Community College; and 22-year-old Neika Lewis, a graduate of the University of the West Indies.
The winner will subsequently vie for the coveted National Festival Queen title.
The Trelawny winner will be hoping to duplicate the feats of two other parish representatives, Terry-Ann Tucker who walked away with the national title in 2001, then Kaysia Johnson in 2006.
Another parish ambassador, Chloe Trowers, copped the first runner-up slot in 2010.
