Ben E King headlines Mother’s Day show
LENGENDARY American soul singer Ben E King headlines ‘An Evening of Musical Memories and Excellence’ on Sunday. Staged by the Lay Magistrates Association of Jamaica’s (LMAJ) Kingston Chapter, the Mother’s Day event takes place at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston.
King heads a cast that includes Harold Davis, Maria Myrie, Boris Gardiner, Carole Reid, Jon Williams, Rory Baugh, Onaje Bell, Paulette Bellamy and Ouida Lewis.
The show will be held under the patronage of Custos of Kingston Steadman Fuller and his wife. Proceeds will fund several LMAJ projects including a mentorship programme at the Tower Street Correctional Programme.
“This is a real worthy cause. There is a great need as we try to prevent some of the situations which will lead to crime and violence,” said Custos Fuller.
King, a former member of The Drifters, has been a regular performer in Jamaica for nearly 50 years.
