Ambassadors make another attempt at a semi-final berth
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Weather permitting, North Gully Ambassadors will make another attempt at qualifying for the semi-finals of the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL Senior League when they take on relegation threatened Revelations in a third-round, cross-zone game at the UDC field today at 3:00 pm.
Heavy afternoon rains for most of last week, forced the St James FA to postpone Friday’s triple-header at Jarrett Park where North Gully Ambassadors were scheduled to take on Montego Bay Boys Club.
North Gully Ambassadors are among four teams trying to get the two remaining places in the semi-finals, joining Boys’ Club and Little Miami, who have booked their places so far.
Boys’ Club lead with 31 points from 14 games followed by Little Miami on 29 from 15 games.
Also today, Little Miami will complete their regular season fixture when they take on Salt Spring United at Sam Sharpe Teachers’ College, while Rosemount Gardens and Melbourne United are set to meet at Irwin High.
Despite 14 points and seven places separating the teams at the UDC field, North Gully should expect a hard fight from Revelations, who are trying to avoid relegation and have a proven goal scorer in the form of Sebastian Robinson.
North Gully’s form in the third round has been found wanting, as they have scored just one win, but with another game in hand, will have the odds in their favour.
Little Miami have been the inform team in the third round with a string of impressive victories and should have the better of Salt Spring, who must win today to have any hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals.
