5. Chris ‘Birdman’ Anderson has been the unsung hero of the Miami Heat thus far in the play-offs, contributing to defense but to a somewhat surprising extent also on offense. Going up against the defensive juggernauts in the Indiana Pacers, the Birdman set a Heat franchise record for field goals made without a miss, making a perfect seven of seven.
4. In the opening game of the Eastern Conference finals, nothing but a win would suffice for the Heat while the Pacers were determined to steal one early on, and Paul George gave them the motivation to do so. With just over a second left on the clock, Paul George rose up above LeBron James with a prayer of a three-pointer, which scored to send the game into overtime.
3. Making amends for his inability to prevent George’s three-pint attempt during normal time, LeBron took up the responsibility in overtime as the Heat trailed 102-101 with 2.2 seconds left on the clock. A well-designed play and a smart move from ‘King James’ allowed him to drive past Paul George and get off the shot just in time to send the Heat fans into sheer bliss.
2. When one thinks of top point guards in the league, Tony Parker always has a difficult time making it into the top fold. Well that will be hard to continue following his play-off and career high 18 assists in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals against the Grizzlies who possess the Defensive Player of the Year I Marc Gasol and the league’s best defensive percentage in the regular season.
1. With the Birdman soaring majestically throughout the finals, Paul George of the Pacers seemed to have taken it upon himself to remind everyone that he isn’t impassable. With the clock winding down in the third quarter of Game 2, George drove past LeBron James at the top of the arc before delivering arguably the fiercest dunk we’ve seen all play-offs right over ‘Birdman, Birdman’ *Shaquille O’Neal voice*.
