Broken water main causes major traffic delays in Lucea

HANOVER, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising the public that commuters travelling in and around the town of Lucea, Hanover, will encounter significant delays.

According to Community Relations Officer (Western Region), Janel Ricketts, the delays are due to a broken water main along the heavily trafficked Seaview Drive main road.

She said auhorities are currently working to resolve the issue. In the interim, motorists are strongly advised to use alternative routes.

This critical arterial thoroughfare serves as a primary route into Lucea and a major connector for travellers between Montego Bay and Negril, carrying an estimated 15,000 vehicles daily.

Seaview Drive is currently undergoing renovations led by the main contractor, China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) Limited, under the Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to Road Network (SPARK) Programme.
