Bonafide to release debut album this summer
MONTEGO BAY, St James – REGGAE ambassadors, Las Vegas-based Bonafide, are now putting the finishing touches to their debut album, titled One Wish, which will be officially launched at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, July 27.
“We are dedicating this album to the communities of Las Vegas, USA, and Montego Bay in Jamaica. We are working hard and are excited about it,” lead singer Junior Roots told the Jamaica Observer West during a telephone interview yesterday.
Apart from the title track One Wish, the album comprises other hardhitting singles including Start and Stop, a collab with Damion Marley, Leaving Come De Morning, featuring Vybz Kartel, Bumber featuring Busy Signal, Want to Be the One, a colab with Etana and Reggae Time, featuring Lucianna.
The five-member band — comprising four brothers from Mount Salem, St James — Junior Roots, Ricky Dread, Mikey Gits and Wayne Bass — and Kerry Ranks, who hails from Clarendon, has been performing and touring extensively for the past decade.
In fact, just ahead of the July album launch, the band will hit the road in a series of shows in the US, the first of which is scheduled for Seattle this weekend, before moving on to Utah, Reno and Nevada.
But Junior Roots is most excited about doing a gig in Las Vegas on June 7 at Kids’ Campus, where they will perform for young children.
In the meantime, the lead vocalist expressed his regret over missing the upcoming Sumfest this summer, due to contractual arrangements which will see the band performing in Fiji, Samoa, Australia and New Zealand, after the July album launch.
“This will be the first year in a long while, that we will not be performing at Sumfest,” said Junior Roots.
