Cops taken off duty after allegedly robbing men
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Four police officers have been confined to their barracks following allegations that they robbed and demanded $500,000 from two men they reportedly caught in a compromising position.
The incident reportedly took place at the popular Back Road in Portmore St Catherine in January.
The men reported that the police robbed them of J$17,000 and a small quantity of US currency.
Three of the four police officers were identified on Friday by one of the reported victims.
The men have been confined pending a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecution Paula Llewellyn.
Attorney Peter Champagnie has been approached to provide legal representation to the policemen.
