Man allegedly attacks woman for supporting JFLAG
ST ANN’S BAY, St Ann — A St Ann man is now facing a charge of wounding with intent after he reportedly attacked a woman when she expressed her views about the Jamaica Forum of Lesbians, All-Sexuals and Gays (J-FLAG).
Clive Ferguson reportedly attacked Christine Williams earlier this year calling her “sodomite gal” before hitting her in the head with a stone while she and a friend where reportedly discussing the J-FLAG.
When he appeared before the St Ann’s Bay Resident Magistrate Court on Tuesday, June 11, Ferguson said that Williams was the one who attacked him as she was under the influence of alcohol. He said that the two got into an argument when she attacked him and it was during a struggle that she fell and hit her head.
However, Williams told the court that she was having a discussion with a friend when the accused, who was close by, attacked her calling her “sodomite gal” before hitting her in the head with a stone. She said she also received injury to the left arm as well as the back, which has resulted in her being in pain constantly.
Williams told the court that she would like to get $150,000 in compensation for the injuries received.
However, RM Vaughn Facey said there was no medical certificate on file and one was needed to ascertain if the injuries the woman claimed to have received are actually so.
The matter will return before the court on August 27, when the medical certificate should be presented.
