MOSCOW, Russia — National champion Javere Bell has been ruled out of the Jamaican men’s 4x400m relay team for this afternoon’s 12:30 final at the 14th IAAF World Championships in Moscow, Russia.

Team media liaison officer Dennis Gordon told the Jamaica Observer that the team medical staff had ruled Bell out of the team due to a hip injury he suffered while helping the team qualify for the finals by winning their semi-final heat running 3 minutes 00.41 seconds.

There had been conflicting news surrounding Bell’s injury since Thursday night after he posted on the social media Twitter that he had been injured and would miss the final.

Early Friday the news was better that he had recovered sufficiently to take his place in the foursome but Gordon’s confirmation ended the speculations.

Leford Green had been expected to come into the team for the finals but Gordon said the coaching staff was meeting and the final four would be announced soon.

Thursday was a brutal day for Jamaican athletes as sprinter Aniesha McLaughlin and shot putter Raymond Brown will spend some time in rehabilitation after both picked up injuries as well.

McLaughlin suffered a hamstring tear while running the semi-finals of the women’s 200m, Gordon said, and would be out for about three to four weeks.

Her injury is a big loss to the women’s 4x100m team.

Brown suffered torn ligaments in his right forearm while warming up for the preliminary rounds of the men’s shot put and will be out for about three months.
