Motorcyclist killed in Hope Road crash
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash this morning close to the entrance of Jamaica House on Hope Road in Kingston.
His identity has not yet been confirmed, but people who claim to know him have indentified him by his alias ‘Chiney Paul’ or ‘Chin’, of August Town in St Andrew.
People claiming to be eyewitnesses said minutes after 8 o’clock the motorcyclist was riding in the direction of Papine when he collided with a Toyota motor car being driven by a woman.
The bike ended up approximately 50 metres from where the dead man’s body laid while his helmet was about 12 metres in the other direction. He appeared to have been dragged several metres by the motor car.
The female driver is now being questioned by the police, who are scouring the scene for clues. An officer at the scene told the Jamaica Observer that the clearly traumatised woman is facing charge of manslaughter.
The crash has caused a major traffic pile up, as police investigators have blocked off the major thoroughfare of Hope Road.
More details later.
