A St Catherine man who allegedly failed to completely settle a $114,000 bill he racked up at a Kingston hotel was denied bail on Wednesday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.

The accused is Antonio Perez of Sydenham Villa. He allegedly owes the Mayfair Hotel $98,250, which includes $3,250 for liquor.

The court heard that Perez went to the hotel and occupied a suite from July 29 to August 8.

He reportedly paid for the first two nights and made several promises to pay for 10 additional nights.

It is also reported that while he was at the hotel he went to the bar and drank $3,250 worth of liquor, which he did not pay for along with the additional nights that he had spent.

He was subsequently arrested and charged for obtaining credit by fraud.

On Wednesday when he appeared in court, his attorney admitted that he owed the hotel money and begged the magistrate to give him bail in order for him to clear his bill.

But Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey refused, stating that she is of the view that he will abscond bail.

The investigating officer then pointed out to the court that Perez had several identities and several previous convictions for fraud.

He was then remanded into custody until September 9.
