The Subaru Owners Club of Jamaica (SOCOJ) held their second event of the year last Sunday, treating their members and invited guests to a road trip from Kingston to the sunny beaches of the north coast.

“The roll-out was truly a successful event for the club. Even though the event was planned in a short time frame, the number of cars and persons who turned up was more than expected,” Rhoneil Williams, club president, told Auto.

An early morning start from Kingston, with a breakfast stop in Linstead, saw a convoy of 20 cars and 40 persons making the final destination of Bamboo Beach, Ocho Rios. Once there, all were encouraged to socialise, show off their cars, trade tips and information while enjoying the sand, sun and water. The activities continued into the late evening before the cars made the return journey home.

“We have been to Reach Falls in Portland, Rock Wharf in Falmouth, Dover Raceway, Puerto Seco, you name it. Unfortunately, since this year we were not able to do any roll-outs due to unforeseen circumstances. However, subsequent to our massive link up by Mary Brown’s Corner Texaco in April of this year, club members and enthusiasts all wanted to have an official roll-out with the club,” said Williams.

With two events under their belt, the SOCOJ is hoping to stage another larger roll-out later in the year and host an event for charity.
