Dempshire Pen residents protest police killing of pregnant woman
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Residents of the community of Dempshire Pen in Spanish Town, St Catherine are staging a peaceful but angry protest against what they described as a case of police brutality resulting in the death of 21-year-old Felicia Henry.
Henry was killed last Thursday in the community of Central Village also in St Catherine.
The angry residents claim that Henry who lived in Dempshire Pen left last Thursday to visit a friend in Central Village.
The police were reportedly in an operation in the Central Village area and went to premises where Henry was visiting. What happened next is unclear but irate protesters claim that Henry was shot 17 times. She was six months pregnant.
Police officers from the Spanish Town station are now on the scene maintaining order.
