Police recover firearm in Delamere Avenue triple murder
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A firearm seized from a man after the recent Delamere Avenue triple killing, has been identified as the murder weapon.
Based on evidence gathered at the murder scene, it was the only gun used in the triple murder, the police said in a statement Wednesday.
Reports are that gunmen entered a house on Delamere Avenue off Waltham Park Road in Kingston about 6:00 am Sunday, September 22 and open fire leaving three people dead.
Hours later, while investigating the shooting, police killed a fourth man in what was described as a “confrontation”.
The dead man, from whom the firearm was taken, was indentified as 19-year-old Sanjay Bartlett.
The Police have attributed the murders to the notorious Rat Bat Gang, which they say is attempting to extend its influence across several communities in the Maxfield Avenue and Lower Waltham Park areas.
