Harbour View’s Lawrence could make Boyz debut against USA
KANSAS CITY, Kansas — Harbour View’s Kemar Lawrence could make his Reggae Boyz debut as coach Winfried Schafer is seriously thinking about using the left-sided player in his 4-4-2 formation for Friday evening’s World Cup qualifier against host USA at the ultra-modern Sporting Park stadium.
Game time is 5:30 pm.
Schafer told the Jamaica Observer that he has plans to use Lawrence in the game in the left-side of defence as Demar Phillips is expected be pushed up into an attacking midfield role.
Based on indications from the coach and the way the team trained on Wednesday and Thursday, the starting line-up is shaping up to look like Duwayne Kerr in goal, Westley Morgan and Adrian Mariappa in the centre of defence; Lawrence at left back and Jermaine Taylor on the opposite side, with Phillips in left midfield, right midfield Jobi McAnuff, centre midfield Daniel Gordon, attacking midfielder Rodolph Austin, while the strikers are Jermaine Johnson and Ryan Johnson.
Shaun Cummings and Marvin Elliott are possible candidates for the left-back and defensive midfield positions, respectively.
