WHILE the sun was setting on Jamaica’s World Cup campaign at the National Stadium Tuesday, it was a more celebratory mood at King Jammy’s Studio in Waterhouse, St Andrew.

That was the venue for the launch of Chuck Fenda’s latest album, Jah Element.

The 17-track set is co-produced by Lloyd ‘John John’ James Jr. It was recorded at his father’s legendary studio.

“This album is part of Jamaica’s reggae revival. It’s the continuation of the

legacy left by icons like Bob Marley and Peter Tosh,” Chuck Fenda told the Jamaica Observer.

‘Element’ was released in the United States on September 10 by digital distributors Zojak World Wide.

Fenda, whose real name is Leshorn Whitehead, said ‘Element’ is unlike his previous efforts which include The Living Fire, Better Days, and Fulfillment.

The new set boasts a mixture of veteran and young producers including Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee as well as Steve Locke, Wayne ‘Unga’ Thompson, and Trevor ‘Baby G’ James.

“The whole vibes is totally different. The energy is strong and it’s spiritually deep,” he said.

He lists Badness No Pay featuring Leroy Smart and Bounty Killer; Spiritual Warfare a collaboration with Junior Reid, and Foul Play with Angel Dulas as “special”.

“We’re targeting the four corners of the Earth… this album is for everyone,” Fenda said.

James Lord, Jamaican representative for Zojak Worldwide, is upbeat about Fenda’s project.

“The album’s reach is international. And quality reggae is always going to sell,” Lord told the Observer.

Fellow artistes were present to support Fenda, including singers Cherine Anderson, Nickesha Barnes of Rising Star fame, and Nikki Burt.
